Knife Attack in Lakewood Road Rage Incident Injures Teen and Leads to Car Theft Arrests

A violent road rage incident in the predominantly Haredi city of Lakewood escalated into a stabbing and car theft over the weekend. The confrontation began near the Food-X store on Princeton Street, involving two groups of teenagers: Jewish youths and Hispanic-background teens in separate vehicles. After a verbal dispute, the Hispanic teens called reinforcements and pursued the Jewish youths through the city, provoking dangerous road behavior.

The chase culminated near 10th Street and Clifton Boulevard, where the attackers blocked the road, exited their vehicle, and threatened the Jewish teens. During the heated confrontation, one suspect brandished a knife and attempted to stab a Jewish teenager but accidentally injured one of his own friends instead. The wounded teen required medical treatment. Meanwhile, another suspect took advantage of the chaos to steal the Jewish youths' car, which police recovered shortly afterward.

Lakewood police launched an intensive investigation involving dozens of detectives from the youth division. Their efforts led to multiple arrests. The main suspect faces serious charges including aggravated assault and illegal weapons possession, while another suspect is charged with vehicle theft. Authorities emphasized there is currently no evidence the attack was motivated by antisemitism, describing it as a road rage incident that escalated criminally.
