Chernovil Rebbe Circumcises Grandson in Emotional Ceremony with Leading Hasidic Figures
In a deeply moving event on Shabbat, the Chernovil Rebbe traveled from Ramat Daled to Ramat Gimmel in Beit Shemesh to circumcise his grandson, the son of his son-in-law Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager. The ceremony took place in the presence of numerous Hasidic rebbes, rabbis, and community leaders, marking a significant spiritual occasion for the Chernovil and Vizhnitz communities.
The Rebbe led prayers and a festive meal at the Vizhnitz synagogue in Ramat Gimmel, followed by a public Kiddush Levana ceremony in the city streets. The event drew hundreds of followers, including prominent rebbes from various Hasidic dynasties such as Kretshnif, Toldot Avraham Yitzchak, Toldot Aharon, and others. The joyous celebration extended late into the night with lively dancing and singing, highlighted by the Rebbe himself performing the Kiddushin ceremony and encouraging spirited participation.
This occasion was part of a broader series of spiritual gatherings and visits by Hasidic leaders across Israel during the month of Elul, aimed at strengthening faith and community bonds. The Chernovil Rebbe’s visit to Beit Shemesh also included a notable meeting with Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, a leading halachic authority, underscoring the event’s religious significance.
The circumcision ceremony and associated festivities were widely documented and shared among the Hasidic press, emphasizing the unity and vitality of these communities. The event also coincided with other major Hasidic celebrations, including weddings and Torah study completions, reflecting a vibrant period of religious life in Israel’s ultra-Orthodox sector.
