Shia Tribes in Eastern Lebanon Unite to Oppose Hezbollah's Policies

Tribal and clan leaders in the Baalbek and Hermel regions of eastern Lebanon have initiated talks to form a coalition aimed at establishing an official stance against Hezbollah's policies, according to a report by the Saudi channel Al-Arabiya on Sunday. Sources from eastern Lebanon cited in the report indicated that these discussions involve tribes and clans from the Bekaa and Aakkar areas, focusing on coordinating positions in response to Hezbollah's influence. The sources stated that Hezbollah's policies have strained relations between the Shia community and other groups within Lebanon. They expressed support for the Lebanese army maintaining a monopoly on weapons and called for strengthening Lebanese sovereignty while avoiding foreign interference in the country's internal affairs. In conversations with Al-Arabiya, the sources emphasized the need to rescue the Shia community from what they described as a "swamp of hostility" regarding its relations with other Lebanese groups and Arab countries.
