Fans Sue Eden Ben Zaken Over Netanyahu's Unexpected Appearance at Concert
Two small claims lawsuits have been filed against Israeli singer Eden Ben Zaken and her production company following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's surprise appearance at her concert last Thursday. One lawsuit was submitted by a mother who purchased three tickets for her 14-year-old daughters, paying a total of 497 shekels. She stated that the expectation was to attend a musical performance, not a political or campaign event. The mother claimed Netanyahu's guest appearance significantly altered the event's nature, turning it into a political gathering without prior notice, which would have influenced her decision to buy the tickets.
The mother also cited the heavy security accompanying Netanyahu's visit, which caused unusual traffic congestion and delays around the venue, negatively impacting their experience. She demanded 1,000 shekels in compensation for distress, inconvenience, wasted time, and related expenses. A second lawsuit was filed by a Tel Aviv resident who bought two tickets for 286 shekels. He expressed surprise and dissatisfaction that Ben Zaken used the concert to promote Netanyahu's election campaign without prior disclosure, describing it as an unwanted political advertisement. He left the concert midway and is also seeking 1,000 shekels in damages.
Both plaintiffs argue that the defendants failed to provide adequate information about the political nature of the event and the participation of a public figure, which they say misrepresented the service they paid for. The lawsuits highlight concerns over transparency and the blending of entertainment with political messaging without audience consent.
