Intruder Breaches Israeli Knesset Security and Is Caught Near Speaker's Office

In a serious security breach at the Israeli Knesset overnight between Saturday and Sunday, an unidentified individual managed to pass through two security gates and enter the parliamentary building. The intruder was apprehended inside the Knesset near the office of Speaker Amir Ohana. The incident began when security personnel at the nearby Ministry of Foreign Affairs alerted Knesset guards that a man had arrived at the Bank of Israel and inquired about directions to the Knesset. Upon reviewing security footage, it was discovered that the man had already infiltrated the premises.

At 2:15 a.m., a security alert was issued after a suspicious figure was spotted near the security checkpoint. Knesset guards quickly responded, located the individual, and detained him inside the building. Although he did not reach Speaker Ohana's office, he was found sitting nearby. Subsequent questioning revealed that the man was mentally unstable. He was handed over to the police and then transferred to a medical facility for supervision.

The breach has raised significant concerns about the Knesset's security protocols, especially how an unauthorized person could bypass multiple checkpoints and enter such a sensitive government site. In response, Speaker Amir Ohana ordered the appointment of an investigative officer to thoroughly examine the circumstances of the intrusion.
