Arnon Segal Defends Brother Amid Criticism of National Security Minister Ben Gvir

Arnon Segal, a prominent Temple Mount activist, publicly defended National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir against criticism from his brother, Channel 12 commentator Amit Segal. Speaking on the "Pethi and Zamri B'am" program on Galei Israel, Arnon praised Ben Gvir's actions and warned that a government without him would mean the inclusion of the center-left in the coalition. This response came after Amit Segal's weekly column in Israel Hayom criticized Ben Gvir, arguing that his continued role in a key government position could cause significant diplomatic harm to Israel.

Arnon Segal rejected the notion that removing Ben Gvir from the government would improve Israel's international standing. He stated, "I don't think Tucker Carlson or others will suddenly like us more if Eisenkot replaces Ben Gvir. The global wave of antisemitism is unrelated to the conduct of any particular minister in our government."

When asked if he considered Ben Gvir a good minister, Arnon said, "I think he has done amazing things." He highlighted Ben Gvir's key initiative to expand citizens' right to bear arms following the outbreak of war, enabling around 300,000 Israelis, including himself, to arm for self-defense. Arnon also noted Ben Gvir's establishment of 1,000 rapid response units over the past three years. He concluded by acknowledging the complexity of any politician but emphasized focusing on Ben Gvir's achievements rather than advocating for a government without him.
