Iran Warns Countries Supporting Sanctions Will Be Deemed Enemies

Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, declared that any country participating in economic sanctions against Iran will be considered an enemy. Speaking on state television, he urged nations and neighboring countries not to join the United States' economic campaign, warning that any action by President Donald Trump against Tehran would provoke a response "like an earthquake." These threats come amid the Trump administration's plans to impose a new sanctions package on Iran, described by U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin as the "toughest in history." Trump also warned that countries providing Iran with a "lifeline" would face economic consequences, noting Iran is not yet ready to accept the "right deal" despite its desire for an agreement.

The new sanctions are expected to impact key trade partners such as China, at a time when Iranian oil exports are declining and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are intensifying. Concurrently, Iranian leadership, including President Ebrahim Raisi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, called for enhanced coordination among state institutions to mitigate the economic crisis and improve citizens' living conditions. Attempts to reach ceasefire agreements in April and June to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz have quickly collapsed.
