Iranian Official Warns Trump’s Actions Spur Global Nuclear Arms Race and Threatens Regional Stability

Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies in an interview with Iranian media on Sunday night. He stated that Trump’s "foolish conduct" has pushed the world toward a nuclear arms race, especially after witnessing that membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty has not prevented American aggression.

Rezaei also addressed Trump’s recent declaration of an "economic D-Day" against Iran, asserting that Iran will not surrender despite the U.S. economic sanctions. He warned that any new aggressive moves by Trump would be met with a strong response from Iran.

Furthermore, Rezaei threatened neighboring countries, cautioning them against participating in the U.S.-led economic war. He said that if regional states cooperate with the Americans, Iran would consider them enemies and would target their interests, including blocking oil exports from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that over 50% of the Persian Gulf coastline is under Iranian control and that Iran should manage the shipping routes.

Rezaei also referenced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assurances to Trump that Iran would capitulate under economic sanctions within a few months. He advised the U.S. not to send additional forces to the region, warning that Iran would attack them and any meetings with hostile parties. He concluded by stating that Iran’s attacks now have specific targets and that they will thwart the economic warfare against them.
