Ponovezh Yeshiva Leaders Hold Prayer Rally After Eviction Deadline Set
Following a dramatic ruling requiring the Ponovezh Yeshiva, led by Rabbi Shmuel Markovitz, to vacate its premises by the end of September, the yeshiva's leaders and hundreds of students gathered on Friday night for a special event of Psalms recitation and a spiritual awakening talk. The assembly began with the students loudly and tearfully reciting Psalms, praying and pleading for the decree to be overturned and for a solution to allow the yeshiva's continued existence.
After the Psalms, a rabbi delivered an inspiring speech urging the students to strengthen their Torah study, diligence, ethical conduct, and divine service during these challenging times. He emphasized the spiritual significance of the month of Elul and the importance of using the days of mercy and forgiveness for personal growth, repentance, and spiritual elevation. The event was documented in photos by David Keshet.
