Ben Caspit to Co-Host Sydney Memorial with 7-Year-Old Sister of Terror Victim

Ben Caspit has been invited to co-host the main memorial ceremony in Sydney on October 7 alongside 7-year-old Samar, whose sister Matilda was murdered in a terror attack at Bondi Beach. The invitation followed Caspit's extensive advocacy tour in Australia last March, where he engaged with thousands of Jewish youths confronting rising antisemitism. His efforts left a strong impression on the local community, which requested his return to lead the memorial event.

The joint hosting by Caspit and Samar is intended to highlight the close connection between terrorism targeting Jews in Israel and the resurgence of antisemitism worldwide. Samar's parents personally asked Caspit to help honor Matilda's memory to ensure she is not forgotten. The relationship began during Caspit's previous visit when Matilda's father, Michael, gave him a special memorial pin, which Caspit now wears at all public appearances and meetings with opinion leaders and parliament members.

Caspit emphasized that the pin is more than a keepsake; it is a symbol to keep Matilda's memory alive and to raise awareness that she was killed simply for being a Jewish child. He pledged to ensure the memorial pins are prominently displayed both at the Sydney ceremony and in Israel. The pins have already arrived in Israel at the family's request, underscoring the transnational bond between Israeli and diaspora communities in combating antisemitism and honoring terror victims.
