Lev Avot Band Releases New Shabbat Song Medley for Elul Month
The Lev Avot band has released a new medley of Shabbat songs in anticipation of the Jewish month of Elul. The medley was created out of a longing to illuminate the world with God's light and to inspire the unity of the people of Israel in prayer for the Divine Presence and the honor of Jerusalem. The band explained that the light of Shabbat brings deep yearning and a call for divine illumination everywhere.
They connected the medley to Elul, describing the month as a time of repentance and return to the source of life. The core message of the project is to awaken the hearts of all Israelites to pray for the Divine Presence, the sanctity of Jerusalem, and the restoration of its former glory, aiming for a unified and sacred proclamation of "The Lord is One and His name is One."
The medley features musicians including David Elbaz on saxophone, Itamar Kamai on violin, Neria Bouskila on clarinet, Benjamin Goldberg and Haggai Shapiro on drums, Elishiv Kramer on bass and piano, Hillel Fisher and Yigal Stettner on guitars, and Ariel Bouskila on bouzouki and oriental guitars. Daniel Amzitur performs the vocals, joined by Amzitur, Kramer, Fisher, Bouskila, and Stettner in backing vocals. The band and Yigal Stettner handled the arrangement and production, with mixing and mastering by Uri Cohen. Saxophones were recorded at Yinon and David Elbaz's studio, and Porat Chaim Tirey was responsible for photography, editing, and graphic design.
