Musician Ariel Kandabi Releases New Single 'Shabbat Among the Leaves' Blending Nature and Spirituality
Israeli musician and composer Ariel Kandabi has released a new single titled 'Shabbat Among the Leaves,' offering a unique musical journey where nature, humanity, and the sanctity of Shabbat intersect. The song, part of Kandabi's path toward his debut album, combines original musical production with a profound message about the hidden holiness found even among the leaves.
Unlike many collaborations, 'Shabbat Among the Leaves' was co-written and composed by Kandabi and Mor Dahari, who together crafted the lyrics and melody to convey a personal and deep vision. The lyrics invite listeners to pause, breathe deeply, and sense the sacredness present in nature, likened to a tree in a garden strengthening its roots while awaiting Shabbat.
Kandabi, a graduate of the Rimon School and former member of an Israeli military band, is known for composing the hit 'Nishva Lecha Kan' for Eyal Golan. He produced and arranged the new single himself, blending jazz, gospel, and Middle Eastern musical styles into his distinctive sound. The song’s central message, expressed in the phrase 'Shabbat... how good it is that you have come,' emphasizes Shabbat as a moment of true connection and spiritual anticipation.
In addition to his composing career, Kandabi performs internationally as a cantor and singer, appearing in the Caribbean, Europe, New York, and alongside renowned Hasidic singer Avraham Fried in Israel. 'Shabbat Among the Leaves' joins a recent wave of emotionally resonant works in Jewish music, focusing on the link between nature and spirituality and inviting listeners to an intimate inner journey, especially in the days leading up to Shabbat.
The single encourages embracing the simplicity and depth of Shabbat’s arrival, reminding hearts to await the sacred moment when a divine voice announces its presence.
