New Agricultural Boarding School Opens Near Lebanon Border to Boost Local Farming and Security
The educational network "Adam VeAdama," affiliated with the Shomer Hachadash organization, will open a new agricultural boarding school at Kibbutz Mitzuba near the Lebanon border in the upcoming school year. The program combines high school matriculation studies, preparation for IDF service, and hands-on agricultural work alongside local farmers in the border communities. This initiative comes nearly three years after the outbreak of the Iron Swords War and aims to strengthen agricultural activity, food security, and civilian presence in the area.
The boarding school is established in partnership with "Ruach HaGalil," founded by Raya Strauss, along with other local and international partners, and will operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and the Settlement Education Administration. Students and staff who have chosen to relocate to northern Israel near the Lebanon border will begin their studies and agricultural work this year.
Simultaneously, the network's agricultural boarding school at Kibbutz Yiron in the Upper Galilee is entering its second academic year. Residents of Yiron were evacuated during the war, and the school was founded about a year ago to support local agriculture, reinforce civilian presence, and foster community activities. This school was created in partnership with "Habaita. Returning to the Galilee" and other partners, also under the Ministry of Education's supervision.
Overall, "Adam VeAdama" operates eight agricultural boarding schools across Israel, including in the Arava, Gaza Envelope, Negev Highlands, Golan Heights, and Upper Galilee. Students' daily routine begins at 5 a.m. with agricultural work, followed by academic classes preparing for full matriculation. Afternoons include activities focused on Zionism, Jewish identity, life skills, meaningful service preparation, national missions, and trips across the country. The network was founded and is managed by Amit Meir.
