IDF Sergeant Yehuda Katz Laid to Rest in Jerusalem After 44 Years Missing
Yehuda Katz, an IDF sergeant and the last missing soldier from the Battle of Sultan Yacoub during the 1982 Lebanon War, will be buried in Jerusalem after 44 years. The funeral procession will begin at 8:30 AM on Friday from the Kerem B'Yavneh Yeshiva, heading to the Mount of Olives cemetery. The military funeral ceremony will start at 10:00 AM in the military section, followed by burial in the civilian section. Per the family's request, the first part of the funeral will be open to media coverage, while the burial itself will be private. Due to funeral arrangements, parking at Mount of Olives will be restricted, with shuttle services provided from the Yehudai lookout parking lot. Katz's burial closes a long and painful chapter regarding the missing soldiers from the Battle of Sultan Yacoub, one of the most remembered battles of the First Lebanon War.
