Israeli Court Seeks Dissolution of 'HaAtid' Association Over Financial Misconduct Allegations

The Registrar of Associations at the Israeli Ministry of Justice has filed a petition with the Haifa District Court to dissolve the 'HaAtid' association based in Jadeidi-Makr. The move follows an investigation revealing suspected financial irregularities, including unauthorized use of funds, illegal profit distribution, and failure to submit required reports.

The inquiry by the Corporations Authority found that the association allegedly charged parents twice for their children's participation in sports training camps. Additionally, 114,100 shekels, recorded as camp expenses, were transferred in cash abroad via a local currency exchange, without proper documentation or proof of the camp's existence. These findings raised concerns about misuse of association funds and violations of the Associations Law.

Further issues included dysfunctional governing bodies, with a key committee member residing abroad for over six months, and the association's non-cooperation with the Registrar, hindering effective oversight. Established in 2012, HaAtid's stated mission is to combat violence in Jadeidi-Makr by promoting sports and competition among youth. The dissolution request was submitted by the Corporations Authority's Enforcement and Control Unit.
