Tali Gottlieb Condemns Internal Deals in Likud Primaries, Demands More Women on Party List
Member of Knesset Tali Gottlieb sharply criticized the internal arrangements during the Likud primaries, warning about the low representation of women on the party list. In a 103FM interview, she described her primary race as a "David versus Goliath" battle, noting she secured 12th place despite deals made against her involving local leaders and labor union heads. Gottlieb distinguished between Prime Minister Netanyahu and his close advisors, accusing the latter of attempting to undermine her political standing. She urged these advisors to refrain from sabotaging the Prime Minister and emphasized that she answers only to the public.
Gottlieb also highlighted the scarcity of women in leading positions on the Likud list, criticizing the party for treating female candidates as mere tokens. She questioned why career-oriented women would want to join under such conditions, given the intense challenges and resistance they face. Calling on Netanyahu to intervene, she demanded the reinstatement of strong female politicians like Keti Shitrit, May Golan, and Osnat Zohar, who deserve secured spots on the list.
Closing her remarks, Gottlieb compared herself to Shimon Peres as a persistent female candidate who has faced repeated setbacks but remains undeterred. She encouraged women to break glass ceilings despite failures and setbacks, asserting that such challenges only foster growth. Reflecting on her personal experience, she acknowledged the difficulties but expressed determination to overcome them and continue advancing.
