Israel Seeks Details on US F-47 Stealth Fighter Amid Alliance Sharing Questions

Israel's Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces plan to request information about the F-47, Boeing's next-generation stealth fighter jet, and review the US policy on sharing the project with allied nations. This move follows hints from Washington that Japan might join the program. Israel remains uncertain whether this is a diplomatic effort to bolster Japan against China or a genuine opening to additional countries.

The F-47 is a highly classified sixth-generation fighter expected to feature a combat range of at least 2,000 kilometers, advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, and the ability to operate drones and robotic systems. It will also have connectivity across air, sea, land, and space domains, along with enhanced stealth features. The US aims to reduce maintenance costs compared to previous fighters like the F-22 and F-35. Foreign reports indicate the F-47's initial test flights are scheduled for 2028.
