Skverer Hasidic Children Experience Ancient Shabbat Market at Summer Camp

Last week, hundreds of children from the Skverer Hasidic community in Borough Park participated in a unique summer camp event that recreated the atmosphere of an ancient Shabbat market. Held in the heart of the Country Hills, the camp featured an immersive experience called "Yosef Moker Shabbat," transporting participants over a thousand years back in time to the era of the Talmudic sages.

The camp set up a visually captivating old-fashioned market where children engaged in traditional Shabbat preparations. They moved between various stalls, making Shabbat candles, kneading dough for fresh challah, purchasing large fish, and preparing salads and other delicacies in honor of the holy day.

This educational and experiential activity aimed to instill a sense of holiness and love for Shabbat among the children, blending Hasidic tradition with hands-on learning. The event was documented with vivid imagery showcasing the vibrant and spiritual atmosphere of the camp.
