Likud Primaries Shake Up Party List with Netanyahu Securing Top Spot
On Tuesday, Channel 13's Raviv Drucker sharply criticized members of the Knesset elected in unrealistic positions in the Likud party primaries, calling it a "celebration of democracy" but also mocking those who sacrificed independence for election and still failed, including Eli Cohen, Idith Silman, Avi Dichter, and Hanoch Milwitsky. The primaries concluded with Minister Eli Cohen winning the most votes from party members, securing the second spot on the list behind Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana came in second place, followed by Justice Minister Yariv Levin in third. The final party list will be adjusted according to reserved slots allocated by Netanyahu, positioned at numbers 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 15, 18, 26, and 29. The top of the list is: 1. Benjamin Netanyahu, 2. Eli Cohen, 3. Netanyahu’s reserved slot, 4. Israel Katz (reserved), 5. Gideon Sa’ar (reserved), 6. Amir Ohana, 7. Yariv Levin, 8. Miri Regev, 9. Netanyahu’s reserved slot, 10. Ofir Katz, 11. Oren Dovrinski (reserved), and so forth. The list also includes new candidates and regional representatives, such as Keren Atiyas Bublil and Mai Golan, who secured a reserved spot for women. The reshuffling reflects internal party dynamics and Netanyahu’s influence over the final composition ahead of upcoming elections.
