Rabbi Yigal Cohen Launches New 'Yigal Libbi' Supervision for Jewish Ritual Products
Rabbi Yigal Cohen announced the establishment of a new kosher supervision organization called "Yigal Libbi," dedicated to overseeing the production of Jewish ritual items such as Torah scrolls, the Four Species used during Sukkot, and high-quality matzah. The launch event took place in Rabbi Cohen's office and was attended by prominent rabbis including Rabbi Shlomo Machpud, head of the "Yoreh Deah" kosher certification and member of the Council of Torah Sages; Rabbi Eliezer Brod, member of the Chief Rabbinate Council; Rabbi Yosef Mashdi, rabbi of the Pardes Katz neighborhood; and Rabbi Neriya Barbi, head of the Sephardic Beit Midrash in Bnei Brak.
During the event, Rabbi Cohen emphasized the special mission behind creating this new supervision body, highlighting the need to raise awareness about kosher standards not only in food but also in sacred ritual items. He pointed out that while the public is generally aware of kosher food supervision, many buyers of tefillin, mezuzot, and Torah scrolls remain unaware of who is responsible for their writing, the level of meticulousness involved, and whether proper supervision and quality control have been applied.
Additionally, Rabbi Shimon Mamo, a close associate of Rabbi Cohen, was appointed as the CEO of the new "Yigal Libbi" supervision organization. Rabbi Mamo expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and acknowledged the significant public responsibility to provide reliable, high-standard kosher supervision for ritual products.
