Expert Reveals Cheap Homemade Solution to Quickly Remove Kettle Limescale
Limescale buildup is a common issue in Israeli households due to mineral deposits in the water, which can reduce the efficiency and lifespan of electric kettles. This white residue forces appliances to consume more energy to boil water, leading to higher electricity costs and potential early device failure.
Paul, a cleaning expert behind the YouTube channel "MGTracey," recently shared an affordable and simple method to tackle limescale without expensive chemicals. He recommends using a 50-50 mixture of distilled white vinegar and water, a basic kitchen ingredient costing just a few shekels per bottle. For a standard kettle, he uses about 300 milliliters of each liquid.
The cleaning process involves soaking the removable water filter in the vinegar solution, where limescale tends to accumulate most, and boiling the remaining mixture inside the kettle. After about five minutes of soaking, the mineral deposits dissolve, and once the kettle cools, it should be rinsed thoroughly to eliminate any vinegar smell. For severe buildup, repeating the procedure may be necessary.
To maintain the kettle’s condition, Paul advises emptying any leftover water after use and occasionally polishing the exterior with a microfiber cloth dampened with diluted vinegar. This method restores the kettle’s appearance and functionality to near-new condition, extending its operational life and reducing energy waste.
