Experts Recommend Eating Two to Three Whole Fruits Daily in Summer, Avoid Fruit Juices
Dr. Sean Portal, an exercise physiologist and clinical dietitian, emphasized the importance of balanced fruit consumption during summer to gain health benefits without excessive sugar intake. In an interview on the program "HaOlam HaBoker," he highlighted that the Israeli Ministry of Health recommends eating two to three fruits per day. These fruits provide essential vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber that support overall health. However, Dr. Portal cautioned against consuming fruit juices, explaining that juices cause a rapid and sharp increase in blood sugar levels compared to eating whole fruits. He stressed that fruits should be consumed fresh or frozen, but not as juices, to maintain their nutritional benefits and avoid sugar spikes.
