Settlers Accuse Authorities of Theft and Vandalism During West Bank Outpost Demolition
Residents of the Givat Tal Talpiot outpost in the West Bank's Samaria region reported significant damage, looting, and desecration of religious items following a demolition operation by the Civil Administration and Border Police. Over the past weekend, these forces demolished two family homes and a goat pen at the outpost. After the residents were allowed to return, they discovered deliberate destruction and the disappearance of valuable items, including at least five pairs of tefillin, holy books, torn identity cards, thousands of shekels in cash left in bags, and credit cards. One credit card owner received a notification shortly after the evacuation about an attempted purchase in a nearby village.
Additionally, food was scattered on the floor and clothing was damaged. During the eviction, Border Police officers were present alongside Arab contractors working for the Civil Administration. The settlers condemned the destruction as a crime aimed at enabling Palestinian Authority control over a strategic hill in Samaria, describing the vandalism and theft as lawless acts carried out under the guise of legality. They called on Defense Minister Bezalel Smotrich, responsible for the Civil Administration, and Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, overseeing the Border Police in the West Bank, to prosecute those responsible and to halt what they described as dangerous incitement within the security forces against settlement pioneers.
