IDF Warns Troops Hamas May Open Fire Near Gaza's Yellow Line

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have warned their troops stationed along the yellow line in the Gaza Strip to prepare for possible retaliatory fire from Hamas, including sniper shots or other terrorist attacks. According to IDF instructions, Hamas may attempt to harm Israeli forces and then claim that the IDF violated agreed-upon rules. The IDF only operates beyond the yellow line when Hamas militants breach the agreement, making Hamas's actions an effort to shift the narrative.

Recent incidents highlight Hamas's increased boldness, with militants themselves approaching the volatile yellow line, unlike before when only women and children were sent near the area. Over the past weekend, six Hamas operatives crossed the yellow line on Friday to steal IDF equipment but retreated after an IDF ambush failed to neutralize them. On Saturday, two more militants crossed to steal pipes; one was killed and the other seriously wounded.

The IDF has instructed troops to respond immediately and lethally to any threats within the yellow line, ensuring minimal harm to uninvolved civilians. The Southern Command has set strict parameters for engaging militants beyond the line, emphasizing proportionality.

Additionally, the IDF has begun documenting numerous daily Hamas violations, including armed movements, planting explosives, attempts to cross the yellow line, setting up roadblocks, and manufacturing weapons during the ceasefire. These reports are shared with the United States and the Quartet on the Middle East. From the "Gaza Envelope" forum, officials stressed that Hamas is exploiting the ceasefire to rearm, warning that this must be prevented and that Hamas's efforts should be dismantled and defeated.
