Unique Coffee Cart in Kfar Hanasi Combines Vegan Food with Animal Sanctuary Experience

In Kfar Hanasi, a unique coffee cart named "Cafe HaChava" offers more than just food and drinks; it is part of an animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and caring for various animals. Founded by Nitai Koren and his father, the sanctuary began as a safe haven for injured and abandoned animals and has grown to include horses, goats, pigs, a rescued smiling camel named Shemesh, birds, rabbits, and recently born foals. Nitai, who spent years in military reserve duty and later worked in hospitality in Tel Aviv, returned to manage the sanctuary and coffee cart, combining his passion for animals and hospitality.

The coffee cart serves vegan sandwiches, salads, and drinks made from local northern Israeli producers, including bread from Edward Bakery in Kibbutz Yiftach and beer brewed by Nitai's brother. The menu features items like zucchini patties on focaccia, eggplant sandwiches, and fresh juices, all priced affordably between 42 and 54 shekels. The sanctuary maintains high cleanliness standards to ensure no unpleasant odors, allowing visitors to enjoy the fresh scent of coffee and nature.

Visitors can relax on blankets and small tables on the shaded grass while surrounded by animals. On Fridays at 9 a.m., the sanctuary hosts an animal feeding event on a cart, inviting children to participate. Nitai emphasizes supporting the local community by employing local workers and sourcing products regionally. The sanctuary and coffee cart operate daily with varying hours, providing a peaceful and heartwarming stop for families and travelers heading to or from northern Israel.
