New York to Celebrate Knicks' First Championship Since 1973 with Victory Parade
New York City announced new details on Sunday for a victory parade honoring the Knicks, after the team won the NBA championship for the first time since 1973. City officials said the event is expected to be one of the largest parades in the city's history.
The parade is scheduled for Thursday and will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Battery Park. From there, it will head north along Broadway, known as the Canyon of Heroes, before ending with a celebratory rally outside City Hall.
The rally will be hosted by Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Reacting to the title, Mamdani said, "It was amazing. It's hard to believe it's real, but it's nice to wake up and know that, yes, it's real, and we are the champions." He added, "The Knicks' victory is a time for celebration for New York, I joined that excitement."
