Trump Says Iran Deal Could Be Signed Within Hours, Criticizes Netanyahu Over Beirut Strike
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he expects an agreement with Iran to be signed within two to three hours, or sometime overnight, as talks move forward. He made the remarks in an interview with Fox News while discussing the advanced negotiations with Tehran.
Trump also said he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked him to avoid military actions that could harm the diplomatic effort. According to Trump, he asked, "What the hell are you doing?" in reference to the Israeli strike in Beirut's Dahieh neighborhood.
He then sharpened his criticism of Netanyahu, saying, "Bibi has no f****** common sense. I told him I was not happy." Trump said he had urged Netanyahu not to carry out further strikes against Hezbollah so as not to endanger the talks with Iran.
Trump added that he also intends to send a message to Iran, asking it not to respond by firing missiles at Israel.
