Israel Alarmed by Rapid Recovery of Iran’s Missile Arsenal After War Damage

Nearly six months after the surprise war that began with an Iranian attack, Israel is increasingly concerned about the pace at which Iran’s missile forces are recovering. Despite severe damage inflicted on Iran’s military industry, Israeli defense officials have observed a faster-than-expected restoration of key missile capabilities.

During the conflict, Israel and the United States targeted over 2,600 missile-related sites and military industry facilities in Iran, carrying out approximately 30,000 strikes. Initially, Israeli military assessments predicted that rebuilding Iran’s missile production would take years. However, intelligence now indicates that Iran has found innovative ways to prioritize resources and restore critical weapons systems even as other parts of the country remain heavily damaged.

The central question has shifted from how many missiles Iran currently holds to how quickly it can replenish its stockpile. Reports suggest that if Iran resumes production at a rate of 100 to 300 missiles per month, it could restore its arsenal to levels seen in June of the previous year by mid-2027. Even a slower production rate could still enable Iran to reestablish a significant ballistic missile threat to Israel within a few years.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told The Jerusalem Post that the war caused substantial damage to Iran’s military capabilities, impairing both the regime’s ability to use and rebuild its forces at pre-war levels. The IDF continues to monitor Iran’s reconstruction efforts closely and updates its threat assessments accordingly.
