Amichai Segal Reveals Multiple Offers for Knesset List Spots Ahead of October Elections

Amichai Segal, political commentator and presenter for Channel 12 News, appeared on the program "60 Seconds" with Liel Eli to share his predictions for the upcoming Israeli elections scheduled for late October. Known for his close ties to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Segal surprisingly estimated that Netanyahu has less than a 50 percent chance of becoming the next prime minister. He also predicted that Benny Gantz might increase his party's Knesset seats, but at the expense of his coalition partners.

Segal criticized Naftali Bennett's alliance with Yair Lapid as a "serious mistake," though he acknowledged Bennett's position was challenging even without the partnership. The journalist disclosed that Netanyahu had previously offered him a reserved spot on the Likud party list and even a ministerial role, but revealed that these were not the only offers he received; according to Segal, he was offered reserved spots on more than one party list.

Addressing the contentious issue of Israelis living abroad returning to vote, Segal called it "legitimate, but it stinks." He further predicted that Gantz would withdraw if he sees no chance of success, that one party would collapse on election night as usual, and that another party would surprise voters. When asked if he ever bet on political outcomes, Segal said he is "allergic to gambling." He also hinted at a politician who appears calm but is actually under intense pressure and anger, without naming names.

Regarding his own vote, Segal admitted he is not yet 70 percent certain whom he will support. Finally, he expressed doubt that Netanyahu will still lead Likud in seven years.
