Chef Haim Bornstein Shares Easy Puff Pastry Recipe with Seasonal Fruits and Cheeses
Chef Haim Bornstein presents a simple recipe for a puff pastry dessert featuring seasonal fruits and a mix of cheeses. The ingredients include puff pastry, peaches, apricots, plums or other sweet seasonal fruits, Camembert, mozzarella, blue cheese, and a beaten egg for brushing. For the syrup, equal parts hot water and sugar are combined.
To prepare, preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius. Arrange thin layers of puff pastry in a round or square baking tray. Between the pastry layers, add slices of seasonal fruits and pieces of Camembert, mozzarella, and blue cheese. Brush the top with beaten egg and bake for about 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius until the pastry turns golden and the cheeses soften.
While baking, prepare the sugar syrup by dissolving one cup of sugar in one cup of boiling water. Once the pastry is out of the oven, immediately pour the syrup over it. The dish is best served warm or slightly cooled to enjoy the combination of crispy pastry, sweet fruits, and rich cheeses. Chef Bornstein wishes readers success and a good appetite.
