Israeli Supreme Court Rejects Petition Against Justice Minister Levin in Yemen Field Leak Investigation

The Israeli Supreme Court ruled against an appeal demanding intervention in the police investigation into the leak of information in the "Yemen Field" case, a probe initiated by Justice Minister Yariv Levin. The court unanimously decided there is no legal basis to instruct investigative authorities to take specific actions in the case. A majority opinion, authored by President Isaac Amit and Judge Khaled Kabub, also held that judicial interference is unwarranted regarding the legal advisor's opinion that the State Attorney may continue overseeing the investigation. Furthermore, the court denied the Justice Minister additional time to appoint an alternative supervisor for the investigation. However, Judge David Mintz dissented, arguing that a conditional order should have been issued compelling the Justice Minister to justify why he has not exercised his authority to appoint a dedicated overseer for the probe.
