Israeli Pilots' Protest Leader Prefers Supreme Court Over Knesset in Democracy Dispute

Guy Poran, a leading figure in the Israeli pilots' protest, spoke on Gadi Taub's podcast 'Shomer Saf' about the ongoing debate over whether the Supreme Court or the Knesset holds ultimate authority in Israel. When asked about the legitimacy of doctors striking over principles they consider vital, Poran stated that when a critical point is reached, anyone who believes they have the power to stop a process threatening Israeli democracy should do so and accept the consequences.

In the same discussion, Professor Yuval Elbashan accused the protest movement of denying the people the right to choose, emphasizing that even if one side holds a majority in the Knesset, it does not grant them unlimited legitimacy to make any decision. Taub challenged Elbashan by suggesting this stance opposes democracy.
