Iranian military source: About 70% of targets in anti-U.S. operation were successfully hit
Reports said Iranian drones hit fuel storage tanks at Kuwait International Airport. According to a military source cited today, Wednesday, by the Iranian news agency Fars, there were many successes in the strikes carried out against American bases. "Based on the preliminary data, about 70% of the precisely defined targets in the operation of our armed forces early this morning were successfully hit," he said.
The source added that "long-range ballistic missiles and unmanned aircraft of our forces managed to penetrate the defense systems deployed at the American bases, and hit the targets assigned to them, in Al-Azraq in Jordan, at Ali Al Salem Base in Kuwait, and at the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain." Iran's Foreign Ministry commented on the events, saying that Tehran needs a reassessment regarding talks with the United States. According to the ministry, the use of military force damages the diplomatic track.
The attacks came in response to U.S. strikes, which were carried out after an Apache helicopter of the United States Army crashed near the Strait of Hormuz. After the incident, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social: "The United States must, of course, respond to this attack."
Indeed, the United States completed a broad operation in southern Iran overnight, including three consecutive waves of strikes, during which about 20 targets were attacked. In response, Iran launched drones toward Bahrain and Kuwait, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also announced that it had struck the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, used by U.S. forces, with long-range missiles. Iran claimed that four targets were hit at the base, including F-35 aircraft hangars and a command and control center. However, the Jordanian army said its forces intercepted and shot down five of the missiles fired at the kingdom. As noted, at the end of the attack the Iranians said many achievements had been recorded and about 70% of the targets were successfully hit.
