Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 Strikes Radar Mast at Antalya Airport
A Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER struck a ground radar antenna pole with its right wing while taxiing to its parking stand at Antalya Airport over the weekend. The aircraft, registration TC-LKD, had arrived from Istanbul on flight TK2430 after returning from a wet lease with India’s IndiGo.
According to reports, the crew had already been cleared to move to the ramp when the collision occurred. The incident caused significant damage to the fuselage, and videos circulated online showed oxygen masks hanging down inside the cabin after the impact.
Turkish Airlines said all 267 passengers were evacuated safely. One passenger suffered minor injuries, but the airline said that person’s condition was good. No other passengers were hurt.
The company said a technical investigation has been opened into the incident. The airline’s statement confirmed that the plane hit the radar mast during maneuvering at Antalya Airport, and the extent of the damage was described as substantial.
