Police and Border Police Disperse Protesters Blocking Traffic in Jerusalem's Bar Ilan Area

On Monday, police forces and Border Police units operated in the Bar Ilan area of Jerusalem in response to public order disturbances and attempts to block major traffic routes. According to a police spokesperson, protesters intermittently tried to obstruct key roads, disrupting daily life for the city's residents. The demonstrations also caused damage to the light rail construction site in the vicinity. Law enforcement personnel continued efforts to clear the roads and restore public order. Protesters attempted to enter the construction zone, leading to confrontations with police who prevented their access.

This incident is part of a broader wave of protests against the new military conscription law, which has seen multiple demonstrations and convoy marches across Israel in recent days. Last week, significant traffic disruptions occurred on major highways including Route 1 and Route 6, with police noting that the protests deviated from prior agreements with organizers and endangered drivers. Some protesters left their vehicles to walk on fast lanes, creating serious safety risks.

Additionally, recent protests have involved violent attacks on journalists covering the events. Reporters Daniel Grobais of Kan News and Yoeli Barim of Channel 13 News were severely assaulted while reporting on a rally in Bnei Brak and had to seek refuge at Maayanei Hayeshua Medical Center until they were rescued.
