Kobi Brumer Releases Song Expressing Longing of Couples Awaiting Parenthood

Israeli singer Kobi Brumer has released a new song titled "I Want to Be a Father," which highlights the deep yearning, prayer, and pain experienced by couples waiting to have children. The song was inspired by a heartfelt late-night conversation Brumer had with his friend Mendy Weiss, who had been waiting for a decade to become a father. During their talk, Weiss expressed his strong desire to become a parent, even embracing the sleepless nights that come with it, saying, "I want to be a father, I want to wake up at night."

Shortly after this conversation, Brumer received the melody for the song from Nataniel Leifer, who had composed it after reading a poignant text by an acquaintance struggling with infertility. This connection between the melody and the emotional text led to the creation of the song. Since then, Weiss's circumstances have changed, and he has been blessed with a daughter.

Brumer, a father of two daughters himself, now releases the song to give voice to those still in the waiting period. The song incorporates themes of prayer and faith, drawing on motifs such as Hannah's prayer from the Bible, emphasizing the plea to be blessed with children. The central refrain, "I want to be a father," encapsulates the song's core message and emotional origin.
