Israeli Quantum Machines Holds Chicago Conference During Knesset Election Amid Employee Concerns

Quantum Machines, an Israeli high-tech company specializing in quantum computer control technology, is holding its international conference in Chicago from October 26 to 28, coinciding with Israel's Knesset election day. The event, known as the Adaptive Quantum Circuits (AQC) conference, is a leading professional gathering with around 200 participants from top technology companies and academia worldwide. The company employs 170 people, about half of whom work in Israel.

The timing of the conference has caused dissatisfaction among some Israeli employees who did not want to miss their democratic right to vote. Quantum Machines stated that no employee is required to attend the conference and that only a single-digit number of Israeli managers and employees will participate. The majority of speakers and attendees are foreigners, and most of the company's Go-To-Market (GTM) team, who typically attend, are based outside Israel in the US, Europe, and Asia.

The company explained that the conference planning, including contracts with suppliers and the hosting hotel, began more than six months ago, well before the election date was known. Upon realizing the overlap, Quantum Machines decided to minimize the number of Israeli attendees to the bare minimum. The company emphasized its commitment to enabling employees to exercise their voting rights and encouraged them to do so.
