Yuval, a 23-year-old occupational therapy student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was set to begin her final year of practical training, which is essential for completing her degree. However, after becoming pregnant and expecting to give birth at the end of December, the university informed her that she must postpone her clinical training by a full year. This delay means her graduation and licensing exam will also be deferred.

Yuval requested two alternatives: to start her training earlier or to take a three-week break around her delivery and complete the remaining hours afterward. The university rejected both options, explaining that the training requires a continuous 13-week period to maintain the integrity of the therapeutic process and meet professional standards. Despite this, the university upheld its decision, citing the clinical and academic requirements that cannot be compromised.
