Former England football star David Beckham has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, calling it a lifelong dream fulfilled. He said he had always dreamed of the moment, but never imagined such an honor would be given to “an English football player from the working class” like him.

In an Instagram post that drew hundreds of thousands of likes, Beckham said the timing felt especially meaningful as preparations begin for the 2026 World Cup celebrations in the United States. “What a day I will never forget. I am so grateful. Los Angeles has a special place in my heart. I came here with a dream, and being recognized for my part in the sport I love means so much to me,” he wrote.

The ceremony also included actor Tom Cruise, Beckham’s close friend, who praised his journey and described it as a “Hollywood story” of hard work, determination, and global influence on sport and culture. Beckham responded that standing there in front of “the biggest movie star of our time” was “simply amazing,” and thanked Cruise for welcoming him to Los Angeles 20 years ago and remaining a loyal friend and inspiration.

Victoria Beckham also posted about the honor on X, saying that when David first came to America, he had a dream to pursue his passion for football and become one of the great athletes in the United States. She said his name now joining the Hollywood Walk of Fame reflects not only his achievements but also who he is, adding that she could not be prouder.
