Suspended Doctor Refuses to Apologize for Racist Remarks Against Likud Voters

Dr. Dubi Laksman, a senior physician recently suspended from Assuta and Maccabi hospitals due to racist comments, continues to insult Likud voters despite his suspension. Investigative reporter Meir Shmatzov from Channel 14's "Shiv'a" program confronted Laksman at his clinic to challenge his offensive statements and question whether he would treat patients regardless of political affiliation. Laksman affirmed he would treat all patients but refused to retract derogatory terms he used for right-wing voters, initially calling them "baboons" and later claiming he meant "chimpanzees," which he described as a higher status but still referred to them as "low IQ" individuals.

During the tense exchange, Shmatzov cited Laksman's social media posts, including claims that David Ben-Gurion despised Mizrahim, their food, and their smell. Laksman partially apologized, acknowledging that "not everything is permissible to say," but quickly shifted blame to alleged threats against his family and grandchildren. He added condescendingly that "we on the left do not threaten, we talk."

When directly asked if he would apologize to the hundreds of thousands of Likud voters offended by his remarks, Laksman refused, stating his language was "too blunt for certain ears." This confrontation highlights ongoing tensions surrounding Laksman's controversial statements ahead of the 2026 elections.
