Knesset to Hold Urgent Debate on IDF Disabled Veterans’ Medical Committee Procedures

Following a formal request from the organization "Combat Diamonds," the Knesset's Labor and Welfare Committee will hold a special urgent discussion next Wednesday regarding the procedures of medical committees and recognition processes within the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Defense. "Combat Diamonds" has raised serious concerns about the conduct of these medical committees, particularly criticizing what they describe as a blanket policy of granting only temporary disability status to IDF disabled veterans. According to the organization, veterans face prolonged procedures, repeated committee reviews, and uncertainty about their status and entitlements.

The debate was scheduled after "Combat Diamonds" submitted an official letter to the Knesset demanding urgent attention to this issue. The request gained bipartisan support, with coalition and opposition members agreeing to advance the discussion. Representatives of "Combat Diamonds" stated, "We will continue to do everything to ensure that IDF disabled veterans receive all that they are entitled to, out of pure concern and without any ulterior motives."

Central to the discussion will be the issue of temporary disability and how the Rehabilitation Department determines disability ratings for injured IDF soldiers. This matter has gained heightened importance since the outbreak of the recent war, due to the increased number of wounded soldiers and those coping with physical and psychological injuries who require recognition procedures and committee evaluations.
