Three Israeli Premier League Clubs Compete for Former Montpellier and Celtic Defender Christopher Jullien

Ahead of the Israeli Premier League season, three clubs, Hapoel Ramat Gan, Hapoel Petah Tikva, and Maccabi Netanya, are vying to sign 33-year-old defender Christopher Jullien. Jullien, who previously played alongside Israeli player Nir Biton at Celtic, is currently in talks with these teams, with Hapoel Ramat Gan emerging as the most likely destination. Maccabi Netanya is cautious about pursuing the player due to his age.

Jullien began his professional career at Auxerre before moving to Freiburg, where he mainly played for the reserve team. After a loan spell at Dijon, he transferred to Toulouse and then joined Celtic in 2019. Between 2022 and 2026, he played for Montpellier, which was relegated to France's second division in 2025 after 16 consecutive seasons in Ligue 1. During his time at Montpellier, Jullien made 77 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Nir Biton praised Jullien following Israeli clubs' inquiries about the defender. The competition among the Israeli teams highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen their squads ahead of the league's start.
