Yoaz Hendel Urges Reserve Soldiers to Lead Israel After October 7 Attacks

Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the newly launched "Reservists" party, delivered a special interview addressing the profound impact of the October 7 attacks and the collapse of Israel's previous security approach. Hendel, who grew up in the West Bank settlement of Elkana and later distanced himself from religious life while maintaining his Jewish identity, emphasized the urgent need for a deep leadership change in Israel. He criticized the failed "conflict management" strategy against Hamas terrorists, calling for decisive victory and strong deterrence.

Drawing from his experience as a reserve officer during the Iron Swords war, Hendel highlighted how internal divisions, including judicial reforms and calls for refusal to serve, weakened national resilience and were exploited by Israel's enemies. He warned that internal fragmentation poses the greatest existential threat to the country.

Hendel founded the "Reservists" party to bring proven field leaders into politics, insisting that those who bear the security burden must also take responsibility for governance. He stressed the critical task of restoring trust between citizens and leadership and rebuilding social cohesion ahead of the complex post-war challenges. Hendel's remarks come as Israel prepares for the 2026 elections, positioning his party as a unifying force for the veteran generation to lead the nation forward.
