Israel U16 Water Polo Team Beats South Africa 9-6 in World Championship Ranking Match
The Israeli under-16 water polo team secured their second victory at the World Championship on Friday, defeating South Africa 9-6 in the classification matches for places 25-32. The tournament is taking place in Croatia. South Africa initially led 5-3 after the first quarter, but Israel dominated the next two quarters with a 5-0 run to clinch the win. Michael Ben Eliyahu scored two goals, while Yehli Weinberg, Ido Baruch, Aviv Gadron, Kfir Shusterman, Yoav Berger, Inbar Sarusi, and Omri Danal each contributed one goal.
Coach Rotem Zuckerman expressed satisfaction with the win, noting the challenge of playing a morning game after a late match the previous evening. He emphasized the team's mental preparation, stating, "We knew it would be tough to recover, but we managed to get into the game and are happy with the result. We have two more matches in the championship and are working hard on the mental aspect."
Israel will face Ukraine tomorrow in the classification matches for places 25-28, continuing their efforts to improve their final standing in the tournament.
