Former Footballer Omri Kanada Works Night Deliveries to Make Ends Meet

Omri Kanada, a former professional footballer now 40, currently appears on the TV show "Power Couple" alongside his wife Dorin. Despite his media presence, Kanada has faced financial struggles linked to past gambling addiction and debts to organized crime. Over the past year, he has reinvented himself by hosting a podcast and performing stand-up comedy, but still works two jobs to support his family.

In an upcoming episode airing Wednesday on Channel 13, Kanada and his wife opened up about their difficult reality. Dorin expressed her hope that he would stop working nights, as it leaves him with no rest. Kanada revealed that besides his podcast, comedy, and lectures, he works night shifts as a delivery driver for hotels and cafes. He explained the financial pressures, including child support, household expenses, and debts he must repay to his parents.

Kanada also shared that after finishing his night job at 7 a.m., he sometimes sleeps in his car before starting his podcast at 8 a.m. He lamented the misconception that his media work brings him wealth. Kanada’s troubles began in 2011 when it was revealed he was extorted by a crime syndicate due to heavy gambling debts. He retired from football in 2015 and participated in the reality show "Goal Star" in 2016, during which he suffered a heart attack and was resuscitated.

Previously, Kanada spoke at the Knesset about his post-traumatic stress from football and how gambling became his escape after his career ended abruptly. He recently told his 10-year-old daughter he has been clean from gambling for nearly nine years. Despite his challenges, Kanada continues to strive for stability and to support his family.
