Tel Aviv Couple Sued for Over 21,000 Shekels After Failing to Empty Safe Containing Only 50 Shekels

A couple from Tel Aviv is facing a lawsuit demanding tens of thousands of shekels after refusing to remove a safe containing only 50 shekels. The safe was rented from Brixton Safes, a company that operates secure storage rooms for valuables. Despite repeated requests, the couple did not vacate the safe after their rental period ended in May 2025. In June, a court ruled in favor of Brixton Safes, ordering the couple to clear the safe. When the company forcibly opened the safe last month, it contained only 50 shekels.

Brixton Safes claims the couple delayed removal for 399 days, accumulating a debt of over 21,000 shekels in storage fees. According to the rental agreement, the daily fee is 50 shekels, and late payment results in a doubled daily rate. The company is now seeking payment of the outstanding amount plus interest, legal fees, and attorney costs. The couple stated they had not yet received the lawsuit and insisted they paid all dues and returned the keys.

Brixton Safes CEO Dvir Indig emphasized that the rental price is unrelated to the safe's contents, which are private and known only to the renter. He added that the company had made numerous attempts to contact the couple via phone, WhatsApp, and email to resolve the issue before resorting to legal action. The company cannot open or remove the safe without a court order, which they obtained in June 2024 after the couple breached an earlier agreement to vacate the safe.
