Israeli Artist Shira HaIvri Gifts Golden Drum to Miriam Adelson Honoring Jewish Resilience

Israeli artist Shira HaIvri, 43, created a unique golden drum symbolizing hope and redemption, which she recently presented to Miriam Adelson, a prominent figure in the Jewish world. HaIvri’s artistic journey began in secular art studies in the Netherlands, where her exploration of Jewish identity and Kabbalistic motifs deepened amid feelings of exile. Together with her husband, she returned to religious observance and made aliyah to Israel about 16 years ago.

The inspiration to craft drums arose during a family crisis when her son was seriously ill. After hearing a Torah lesson about liberation and redemption, HaIvri made a special drum as a gift for the treating physician. This sparked a wider movement, with thousands of drums created and distributed worldwide over the past 12 years, accompanied by workshops promoting the idea that every woman holds the "instrument of redemption."

HaIvri was particularly moved by Miriam Adelson’s dedication to the Jewish people and hostages, as praised by former U.S. President Donald Trump. Determined to honor Adelson, HaIvri sought to connect with her for months. Unexpectedly, a Las Vegas producer contacted HaIvri to commission a special drum for Adelson’s lifetime achievement award from the Israeli-American Council (IAC). The drum, adorned with 24-carat gold leaf, Kabbalistic symbols, and carefully chosen inscriptions, was unveiled at a gala event where a video showed HaIvri’s meticulous work.

Currently, HaIvri is exhibiting her art at the 2026 Jerusalem Hutzot HaYotzer Festival, blending traditional calligraphy with contemporary expression. She emphasizes the power of faith and joy in witnessing miracles and fulfilling her life’s mission to inspire hope through art.
