Shin Bet Warns IDF of Potential Tour Attack Near Palestinian Village Before Deadly Shooting

A preliminary intelligence report from the Shin Bet was passed to the IDF the night before a deadly shooting attack near the Palestinian village of Tal Leila, according to an investigation by the Central Command. The report indicated intentions to conduct a tour in a highly volatile and friction-prone area. The probe, led by Brigadier General Kobi Heller, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, revealed significant gaps in how this intelligence was communicated and integrated with commanders and troops on the ground.

The attack resulted in the murder of Benyahu Malt, a member of the local security team and agriculture coordinator at the Gilad Farm, who was shot near the farm. Two other individuals were seriously wounded during the incident, which involved a group of hikers being assaulted by several Palestinians. Following the attack, the security officer from Gilad Farm intervened.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., initial reports indicated a shooting injury caused by Palestinians who had stolen the security officer's weapon and fired at the hikers. Medical teams treated the wounded, but one man, around 30 years old, succumbed to his injuries. The incident underscores ongoing tensions and security challenges in the area.
