Yoaz Hendel and Avigdor Lieberman Condemn Ultra-Orthodox Protests Against IDF Draft Programs

Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the Miluim party, criticized the violent protests by the Jerusalem ultra-Orthodox faction outside a conference unveiling new IDF draft tracks for Haredim. Posting on X, Hendel accused draft dodgers of receiving support while those who enlist face cold shoulders. He questioned the silence of key figures, asking, "Where is the National Security Minister? Where is the Prime Minister? Where is Smotrich, who fears the ultra-Orthodox leaders? Silence is disgraceful."

Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, also responded to the protests, stating that in the next government, draft dodgers will not have the luxury to harass soldiers and law-abiding citizens. Instead, they will be busy undergoing basic training. Both politicians emphasized the need for enforcing military service among the ultra-Orthodox community and criticized the current government's inaction.

The protests reflect ongoing tensions over the integration of Haredim into the Israeli Defense Forces, a contentious issue in Israeli society and politics. The statements from Hendel and Lieberman signal a push for stricter enforcement of conscription laws in future administrations.
