Mexican Jewish Community Donates $2 Million for New IDF Combat Engineering Unit Park

A new park dedicated to the soldiers of the IDF's Combat Engineering Unit (Yahalom) was inaugurated with an investment of approximately 2 million shekels, funded by donations from the Jewish community in Mexico. The park is designed to serve as a social and ceremonial space for Yahalom soldiers and commanders, hosting memorial events, award ceremonies, and community gatherings.

At the center of the park stands a replica of the "Ner Tamid" monument, originally about six meters tall and erected in Mexico to honor fallen IDF soldiers. This replica is dedicated specifically to the fallen members of Yahalom, symbolizing the deep and unwavering commitment of the Mexican Jewish community to Israel and its soldiers.

The project was executed by the Association for the Wellbeing of Israeli Soldiers, with funding from the "Together for the Soldier" organization and the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael) in Mexico. Even before the official opening, the park hosted several meaningful events, including a ceremony for a female officer whose family event was canceled due to difficult circumstances.

This new facility aims to enhance the welfare of Yahalom soldiers and provide a central venue for unit-related activities and remembrance ceremonies, strengthening the bond between the soldiers and the global Jewish diaspora.
